When Sean Nixon left school after his Leaving Cert in 1999, he embarked on a third level course in business but soon realised that it wasn’t for him, and instead began a career in retail. He quickly worked his way up to a senior management position and today he is the general manager of Spanish natural stone company Cosentino’s Irish warehouse.

Having built a successful career, Sean wanted to earn a qualification to enhance the wealth of experience and skills that he had accumulated over his working life. Through RPL, he was accepted on to the Masters in Professional Design Practice programme at TU Dublin. He graduated with first class honours in March 2023. Sean attributes his success in higher education to the access he was granted as result of RPL which help to recognise his experience.
